Why a Track
and Field Facility ?
|
| |
Athletic
Fields
Improved athletic fields for football, soccer and lacrosse
will better meet the need of student athletes. Milford nearly
lost home field advantage for the first playoff game in years
due to the substandard condition of our football field and
the potential for injury to the athletes. |
|
|

Currently, students participating in track & field programs
at the High School and Middle School do not have facilities to
train properly. Athletes run on streets, parking lots and in
hallways. They continue to battle traffic, weather and other
unsafe environments. |

Youth Physical
Education

In compliance with NH Ed 306.26 and Ed
306.27, local school boards shall require that a school
provide physical education programs for grades K-12 to
include:
- Participate regularly in physical activity
- Learn to value physical activity for health, enjoyment,
challenge, self expression, and social interaction.
- Promotion of regular amounts of appropriate physical
activity now and throughout life.
- Family and community partnerships

Students at the Middle and High School levels are
required to take the Presidential Fitness Challenge and must
complete a 1 mile run as part of this test. Today, students run
around the school buildings avoiding cars, curbs, gravel, uneven
grass surfaces and puddles. |

Community Benefits
A
track offers a safe exercise environment for all residents of
the community from parents with small children to seniors. The
level, lighted track is ideal for athletes in addition to people
with medical rehabilitative needs. The rubberized track is healthier
for joints and muscles than hard pavement.
